Joseph Rodgers Quill knife
This elegant little knife was made by Joseph Rodgers: the most sought after maker of the Victorian age. It’s in fine condition with a scrolling floral design on each of the golden scales (which I think are gilded). Quill knives like this were the original penknives - used for the perennial task of sharpening a quill pen for use and small enough to be carried in a gentleman’s pocket at all times. This is a particularly special example, in perfect working order and nicely marked to Rodgers who even made knives and daggers for royalty (hence the VR stamp on the ricasso - Victoria Regina). Open, the knife measures 11.7 centimetres long.
